Trustee nominations

The following people have been proposed and seconded by members to become Trustees of Shrewsbury House Community Association and they have indicated their willingness to stand for election.

Kate Halpin (co-opted tustee seeking confirmation as a full Board member)

I have lived close to Shrewsbury House for the last 10 years, but have been aware it for many years having first visited the house to see Father Christmas in the 1970s!

I am currently a serving Metropolitan Police Officer with over 30 years' experience including several postings on Greenwich Borough and more recently as the Borough Commander for Lewisham. I have a number of skills which I hope will assist the Board including experience of partnership working with the statutory and voluntary sectors, change and project management.

The Trustees of the House have done an amazing job over the past few years in reviving the fortunes of the House. They allowed the Charity Rowing team which I was a member of to host a number of fundraising quiz nights at the House in 2018/19.

I would now like to become a Trustee to support and to contribute to the great work of the current Board.

As a regular user of Shrewsbury House I would very much like to give something back by joining the Board. I run a not-for-profit organisation as a Director. I have a very community focused outlook, often succesful in applying for funds and keen to assist in any way I can in keeping Shrewsbury House at the forefront of the community.

Sajid Raja

I have lived in Shooters Hill with my family for nearly fifteen years and I feel proud to call this my home. I am a freelance product design engineer and have worked as a finance officer for a local authority within the housing department. Since starting a family I decided to focus my time at home with my children.

As a product design engineer I ran research projects as well as developing new ideas for products and the reengineering of existing products. Both my wife and I have initiated and participated in several local voluntary initiatives including a Career Aspiration Workshop for two Greenwich primary schools.

Having recently learned more about this role, I am very much open to the opportunity to use the expertise I have acquired both professionally and personally over the years to support an organisation such as Shrewsbury House Community Centre. In addition, now that my children are of school age, this is a unique period in my life whereby I am able to commit the necessary time to offer my skills as a Trustee in an environment where I can bring real value.

I feel I will be a strong fit whilst at the same time providing sufficient challenge to hopefully reach the full potential of the governing body.
