£8.80 per hour

We wish to build a small team of part-time casual Community Assistants who can be called upon to assist our permanent staff in running the House as and when required.

Shrewsbury House in Shooters Hill SE18 provides space for a wide range of local community based, not for profit and other groups.  It is also available for weddings, parties and other external events.

The House is open Monday to Saturday and occasional Sundays, and has a café, a catering service for functions, and a licensed bar.  It runs regular events to attract local residents and users.

Our Community Assistants are responsible for providing a safe, secure and clean environment for users and for communicating effectively with other staff, customers and users  to support the day-to-day demands of a busy community centre.

You will:

  • Be fit and healthy as the post requires some heavy lifting
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Have a good command of English verbally and in writing
  • Be willing and able to be flexible with working hours to fit in with demand
  • Able to work unsupervised and also to contribute as part of a team
  • Be conscientious and ensure that safety and security procedures are followed
  • Be punctual and reliable
  • Be willing to attend work-related training
