Shrewsbury House has launched a fundraising campaign to buy a life-saving defibrillator. If a visitor to the house or a member of staff should suffer a heart attack, prompt action is essential to maximise their chances of making a full recovery. If their heart has stopped an electric shock from a defibrillator is the only way to re-start it and if this is done within the first minute their chances of survival are estimated to be 90%.
Modern automated defibrillators can be used by anybody and a recorded voice guides the user through the whole process. The machine analyses the heart rhythm and will only administer a shock if it is needed.
We need to raise in the region of £2,000 to buy a defibrillator plus the necessary accessories like spare batteries. Please help by making a donation. You can give by text message or online.
