From early September we'll be starting to open our doors again in a very gradual, careful and Covid-safe way. The House will be undergoing a thorough clean throughout and we have put in place sanitiser stations at strategic points around the building. Everyone entering the House will be required to wear a face covering in all common areas of the building i.e. corridors, reception and toilets, to maintain safe distancing and follow the signed routes.
The House will only be open to scheduled activities for some time yet and we will not be able to accommodate anyone not attending a pre-booked class or activity. We are prioritising our existing users and trying to accommodate as many as possible but the need for social distancing and initially reduced opening hours means that it may not be possible to fit everyone in or to allocate the times and rooms they had before.
We have carried out a comprehensive risk assessment for the House and gardens and we will be requiring all user groups to provide us with their own risk assessments in a format that we will provide. The safety of users and staff is our priority and therefore it is vital that everyone using the House complies with the new arrangements.
There will obviously be some changes that may be inconvenient. For instance, staff will no longer be handling any cash payments so room hire fees will have to be made either monthly by BACS or on the day by contactless card payment.
We know it will be different at first but we're very much looking forward to welcoming you back to Shrewsbury House. We've missed you.
