About us

Shrewsbury House is a community centre run for the benefit of the local people of Shooters Hill and Plumstead Common. It is a place where people of all ages can come together safely to enjoy fun, recreation and education, the heart and focus of our community.

The House is a Grade II listed building owned by Royal Borough of Greenwich. Shrewsbury House Community Association is a charity run by a board of trustees who are elected annually from the members who use it. It is managed a by a small group of paid staff.

In 2023 we will celebrate fifty five years as a community centre, and the centenary year of the building.

Our licensed bar is open on Friday evenings from 6pm and for special events. We serve a range of bottled beers, wines and spirits and a wide selection of non-alcholic drinks. When open, normal licensing restrictions apply in the bar area and under 18s must be under the supervision of an adult at all times.

Shrewsbury House has very attractive gardens on two sides. You are welcome to enjoy them at your leisure.

It is possible to include the garden if you are booking an event such as a wedding but you should be aware that, in order that we do not disturb our neighbours, there are restrictions on the time and duration that you may use the garden.
